Consultations/Examinations

We will ask you about your general health as well as your past dental experiences and discuss your problems and expectations. After a thorough examination, which may require further diagnostic tools such as x rays, we will advise you of our findings. Then we can discuss the options available to you and the treatment and costs that will be involved.

General Dentistry

"Prevention is better than cure"

We would rather stop dental disease than treat it. Sometimes this is not possible and we have to carry out certain procedures to save teeth.

Fillings

Old fillings may need replacing or new cavities may need filling. Tooth coloured filling materials are usually preferred to the silver fillings, even for back teeth.

Crowns

Sometimes a tooth cannot be filled because it is too weak and needs a crown to strengthen and restore it. Crowns cover the tooth and can be silver, gold or tooth coloured.

Root Canal Treatments

The nerves in teeth can get infected and the tooth will then proceed to abscess. The tooth can be saved by removing the infected material and filling the roots. The procedure is more difficult in back teeth with multiple and possibly curved roots. Most root treated teeth also need crowning afterwards.

Gum Disease

This is a major cause of tooth loss. Oral hygiene advice, good home care with simple cleaning and polishing will usually keep things under control. Sometimes more intense therapies are indicated. Our Hygiene therapists are at hand to help with your care.

Missing Teeth

Gaps can be unsightly and/or create problems chewing food.

Teeth can be replaced with -

Dentures

The simplest way to fill spaces but these are removable and fixed options are often preferred.

Bridges

Fixed to other teeth and cannot be removed.

Implants

Do not need to fix to existing teeth. Are fixed directly into the jaw using titanium screws.

Tooth Straightening

Aligning teeth can make a big difference to your smile.

Modern braces are less bulky and can be practically invisible.

Cosmetic Treatments

We can carry out many different procedures to improve the appearance of your smile.

Treatment may require one or more of; replacing old dark fillings, tooth straightening, tooth whitening, porcelain crowns or veneers and replacing missing teeth.
